Ohio State is set to welcome TreVeyon Henderson back to the team for their upcoming game against Purdue. The running back has been out of action since his impressive performance against Notre Dame, where he rushed for 104 yards and scored a touchdown on 14 carries.
Henderson was sidelined in the Buckeyes' 37-17 victory over Maryland due to an undisclosed injury. In his absence, the senior running back Chip Trayanum took over the rushing responsibilities. Having their primary offensive playmaker back would be a huge boost for Ohio State.

TreVeyon Henderson injury update
It's unclear whether Henderson's recent injury is related to his foot surgery in December or if it's a separate issue. Ohio State did not provide a specific reason for his absence on game day, but it's worth noting that Henderson had previously suffered a broken bone in his foot last year, which led to him missing five games.
In the four games leading up to last week, TreVeyon Henderson had amassed 295 rushing yards and scored five touchdowns, making him the Buckeyes’ leading rusher heading into the game against the Purdue Boilermakers. His presence will offer Ohio State the upper hand in the running game.
Ohio State’s running back options if TreVeyon Henderson can't play
The Buckeyes are expected to be the favorites against the Boilermakers, whether or not TreVeyon Henderson is in the lineup. While there’s a high chance he will feature in the Saturday game, the Buckeyes could play other options in his place if he is deemed not ready for the game.
If Henderson is unable to play, the Buckeyes would likely have turned to Miyan Williams. However, according to the pregame availability report, Williams has been listed as out. He notably carried the ball six times for 23 yards in the game against Maryland.
It appears that Deamonte Trayanum, who had a significant number of carries against the Terrapins, would be the starter if Henderson can't play. Trayanum was originally listed as the third-string running back on the depth chart, trailing behind Henderson and Williams.
The Buckeyes hope to continue their brilliant form this season on the road against the Boilermakers. Notably, it did not end on a good note the last time Ohio State played at Purdue back in 2018.
Ranked No. 2 then, the Buckeyes experienced a stunning upset, falling to the Boilermakers with a surprising 49-20 loss. This defeat proved significant enough to prevent them from making it to the College Football playoffs.
