Trevor Lawrence has dealt with injuries for quite some time. However, the one-time Pro Bowler soldiered on and attempted to get the Jaguars back into the playoffs picture.
Unfortunately for the Jaguars, Lawrence suffered a scary-looking hit against the Houston Texans on Dec. 1. Ahead of Week 16, let's look at Lawrence's availability.
Trevor Lawrence's injury update
According to Ian Rapoport, coach Doug Pederson announced that Trevor Lawrence has undergone shoulder surgery. The Jacksonville Jaguars superstar quarterback was in the concussion protocol after his head injury against the Houston Texans in Week 13. However, he needed to clear the league's mandatory concussion protocol before he was cleared to undergo the surgery.
The report said that the surgery was successful, and Lawrence is expected to return just in time for offseason activities. In the meantime, Lawrence's draft colleague Mac Jones will be tasked with QB1 duties.
Lawrence wasn't the only Jacksonville Jaguars starter to undergo surgery recently. Star tight end Evan Engram had an operation on his injured shoulder, and he's expected to return on a timeline similar to Lawrence's.
How did Trevor Lawrence perform this season?
Trevor Lawrence had a forgettable year by his typically high standards in 2024. It's likely due to his myriad of injury issues and the Jaguars' inability to protect him in the pocket adequately.
Lawrence ends his season with a stat line of 2,045 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 10 games. The Clemson Tigers product won just two games all season, and he had just four games with more than one touchdown in 2024. He'll look for better form when he's back in action during the 2025 season.
Jacksonville has one of the worst records in the NFL. The Jaguars have won just three games this season, and they're currently on track to have a top-three pick in the upcoming draft.
The franchise's only wins this season came against the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. With their poor form this season, it'll be a surprise if Doug Pederson retains his job at the end of the regular season.
