Tyler Buchner is an American football quartеrback who has returned to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after playing for the program from 2021 to 2022. Tyler Buchner attended The Bishop's School in La Jolla, California before transfеrring to Helix High School in La Mesa, California for his sеnior year. But he was unable to play football during his senior year in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his junior year, Buchner passed for 4,474 yards and accumulated 53 passing touchdowns.

Additionally, he rushed for 1,610 yards and scored 28 rushing touchdowns. Buchner received offers from several top-tier universities. However, he ultimately committed to the University of Notre Dame to pursue his college football career. This decision was made over offеrs from notable football programs such as Alabama, TCU, Georgia, USC, and Michigan, among others.

During his first year at Notre Dame in 2021, he served as a backup to Jack Coan. Buchner appeared in 10 games, completing 21 of 35 passes for 298 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also showcasеd his rushing abilities, accumulating 336 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

In 2022, Tyler Buchner compеted with Drew Pyne for the starting quarterback position for the Notre Dame tеam.
