Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke could be leaving the Wisconsin Badgers after one season. Wisconsin took a step back from last year by winning only five games. Van Dyke played a minimal role on the team after transferring from the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes. On Monday afternoon, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on X/Twitter that the quarterback will enter the transfer portal for the final time.
"Sources: Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is entering the NCAA transfer portal. He'll have one year of eligibility remaining. He has 7,891 career passing yards and 55 career touchdown passes in his time at Miami and Wisconsin," Thamel wrote.
Van Dyke had the starting role for Wisconsin (5-7, 3-6 Big Ten) for the first three games of the season, leading the team to a 2-1 record. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in the team's 42-10 blowout loss to the then-No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 14. He ended the season completing 43 passes for 422 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore quarterback Braedyn Locke took over the starting role to finish the remainder of the season. He completed 164 passes for 1,936 yards and 13 touchdowns.
If Thamel's report is accurate, Van Dyke will look to have a fresh start with a new team as he continues to recover from his injury. He'll try to end his college career on a high note and potentially enter the 2026 NFL draft.
Here are three teams the senior quarterback could go to if he transfers.

#3, Notre Dame
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-1, No. 7 CFP) are having a great season with Riley Leonard as the starting quarterback. He has completed 194 passes for 2,092 yards and 16 touchdowns. Notre Dame earned a spot in the College Football Playoff and will compete against the Indiana Hoosiers (11-1, No. 10 CFP) in the first round on Dec. 20.
Although the Fighting Irish are enjoying a successful year, they may need to look for a starting quarterback for next year.
Leonard could be heading to the 2025 NFL draft after finishing his senior year. The team has quarterback Steve Angeli, who could return for his senior year. Angeli has completed 18 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Nevertheless, Van Dyke could be a player the team may try to sign to their program. He'll have more playing experience than Angeli and has proven to be able to lead a team to victory as the starting quarterback.
#2, FSU
The Florida State Seminoles (2-10) ended this season as one of the worst teams in college football. FSU wrapped up its regular schedule with a 31-11 blowout loss to the Florida Gators on Nov. 30. Next season presents an opportunity for the team to potentially have a better outcome by acquiring Van Dyke.
Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggled to lead Florida State's offense in his five games this year. In Week 5, he suffered a season-ending hand injury in a 42-16 loss to the SMU Mustangs on Sept. 28. He finished the season with 84 completions for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns. Although he's expected to return to play for FSU next year, the Seminoles may consider giving Van Dyke a chance over him.
#1, Oregon Ducks
The No. 1 Oregon Ducks (13-0) are another team that could be interested in signing a quarterback from the transfer portal. They're coming off a Big Ten championship win over the Penn State Nittany Lions (11-2, No. 6 CFP). One of the key factors to their success has been quarterback Dillon Gabriel. He has completed 297 passes for 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns. Gabriel will be entering the 2025 NFL draft after the postseason, leaving an open spot on the roster.
Oregon has options to take over his role, including sophomore quarterback Dante Moore. However, the Ducks could try to recruit Van Dyke for his final year to get back to the College Football Playoff next year.
