UConn has been active in the offseason and made another addition to its offense. The Huskies have added former Auburn wide receiver Caleb Burton via the transfer portal, and the sophomore pass catcher will join for the 2025 season.

Burton transferred after a two-year stint with the Auburn Tigers. The 5-foot-11 pass catcher takes his talents to UConn after a forgettable 2024 season.

How did Caleb Burton perform at Auburn?

Caleb Burton had a mixed collegiate career with the Auburn Tigers. He joined the team after enrolling at Ohio State and became a Tiger ahead of the 2023 season.

Burton was a highly sought-after prospect in high school and was rated as a four-star prospect. He was ranked as the No. 28 wide receiver in the country, the 26th in Texas, and the 160th overall.

Hence, Burton had his fair share of offers but elected to play for Auburn. He had a decent first season, amassing a stat line of 16 catches and 226 yards. Unfortunately for him and the Tigers, his sophomore season was less impressive, as he could only muster two catches for 49 yards.

What does Caleb Burton bring to UConn?

Caleb Burton is a fast wide receiver who can find separation. He was highly regarded out of high school due to his shiftiness and YAC ability.

While it didn't work out at Auburn, that doesn't mean he can't thrive with the Huskies. Burton joins a team that operates a well-balanced offense. The Huskies are comfortable running and heaving the ball.

Hence, it'll be interesting to see what the Huskies do to unlock Burton. If they do, they have a potential five-catch-per-game wideout in the prime of his collegiate career. He'll join a wide receiver room with Skyler Bell, Jasaiah Gathings, and potentially a few wideout recruits via the high school pipeline and transfer portal.
