In Week 3 of the 2024 college football season, the UNLV Rebels go on the road to play the Kansas Jayhawks, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET on Friday. The game can be watched on ESPN.
UNLV is off to a 2-0 start, coming off a 72-14 win over Utah Tech. Meanwhile, Kansas is 1-1, coming off a 23-17 loss to Illinois on the road. This game will be a rematch of the Guaranteed Rate Bowl last season, which Kansas won 49-36.
UNLV vs Kansas: Prediction

UNLV is an 8.5-point underdog against Kansas, with the over/under set for 59.0 points.
The Rebels' defense has been solid. In Week 1, UNLV beat Houston on the road 27-7. On offense, quarterback Matthew Sluka has been solid. Sluka played four years for Holy Cross before transferring to UNLV.
Stopping Sluka will be tough, and Jayhawks defensive coordinator Brian Borland agrees.
“I think he’s really good, quite honestly he’s not the thrower the guy was last year, but he does everything else that guy maybe didn’t do,” Borland said, via Kansasn.com
Through two games, Sulka has completed 14 of 30 passes for 232 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Kansas is coming off a disappointing loss to Illinois on the road. Quarterback Jalon Daniels struggled as he threw for 141 yards and three interceptions.
“There were a lot of mistakes I made on the field,” Daniels said, via Kansas City Star. “I didn’t put my team in a great position at all. And a lot of the decisions I made are throws I wish I had back, and I just have to do a better job of being able to put my team in a better position to be able to win the game."
With Kansas back at home, Daniels will have a chip on his shoulder, and expect him to have a much better game here. The Jayhawks' defense should also improve here to lead Kansas to get a win.
Prediction: Kansas 27, UNLV 17
