The UTEP Miners are on the road to play the Colorado State Rams on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET/3 p.m. MT. The game will be played at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colorado, and will be shown on truTV and SiriusXM channel 384/984.

UTEP is 0-3 and coming off a 28-10 road loss to Liberty. Meanwhile, Colorado State is 1-2 and is coming off a 28-9 road loss to the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 3.

UTEP vs Colorado State Predictions

UTEP is a nine-point underdog against Colorado State on Saturday. The over/under is set at 49.5 points.

The Miners have struggled mightily this season, as their offense has scored 10 or fewer points in two of their three games. UTEP quarterback Skyler Locklear threw two picks last game.

It was a disappointing performance, and Locklear said he needed to simplify things against Colorado State.

"Simplify the game plan," Locklear said, via El Paso Times. "When we're in the open field, driving the ball, we are a great offense. If we make a mistake, if we don't get lined up, make a wrong read, it stalls our offense. We're an up-tempo offense and once we get stalled, it's hard to get that tempo back.
"Tempo is something you get the first or second play of a drive and if you lose it, it's hard to get it back, so it's keeping a simple game plan and being able to execute it."

On the other hand, Colorado State is coming off a rivalry loss to Colorado at home. Quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi threw for 209 yards and two interceptions as he struggled offensively. However, Fowler-Nicolosi is a much better quarterback and should be able to rebound nicely against UTEP's defense, which will be a concern for the Miners.

Colorado State will also be without star receiver Tory Horton, who is one of the top receivers. Coach Jay Norvell says he wishes Horton didn't play last week.

"I'd be surprised if Tory plays this week," CSU coach Jay Norvell said at his Monday press conference. "I don't believe Tory will play and probably shouldn't have played last week. I've been around the kid a long time. He's made of the right stuff. I knew if he could play, he would. I probably should have held him. It wasn't his night to play."

Ultimately, this is a good spot for Colorado State and Fowler-Nicolosi to rebound here, as the Rams should cruise to a double-digit win.

Prediction: Colorado State 31, UTEP 17
