The Vanderbilt Commodores hosted the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 6 of the 2024 college football season. The game got underway at 4:25 p.m. on Saturday from FirstBank Stadium in Nashville.

The Commodores opened the scoring in the first half when Sedrick Alexander rushed for a 7-yard touchdown. Brock Taylor converted the extra point.
Vanderbilt then extended its lead via a critical error from Milroe and safety Randon Fontenette completed a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown. Taylor failed to convert the extra point.
Alabama struck back when Jam Miller rushed for an 8-yard touchdown and Graham Nicholson converted the extra point. However, the Tide were down 13-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Nonetheless, it didn't take long for Vanderbilt to cause havoc for the Tide in the second quarter. Sedrick Alexander's 1-yard rushing touchdown gave the Commodores a bigger cushion at Taylor converted the extra point.
Taylor then made a 51-yard field goal to put Vanderbilt in a solid position. However, the Tide cut the deficit to nine points when Miller rushed for a 3-yard touchdown and Nicholson converted the extra point.
The Commorades led 23-14 over Alabama at halftime, but the Tide didn't take long to get within striking distance of their opponents in the third quarter. Milroe scored on a 14-yard run and Nicholson converted the extra point.
Vanderbilt restored its nine-point lead when Junior Sherrill caught a 36-yard TD pass from Pavia. Taylor converted the extra point. However, Alabama threatened a comeback once again when Milroe combined with Ryan Williams for a 58-yard touchdown pass and only two points separated the teams heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter began with Taylor converting a field goal for Vanderbilt. The Commodores put some distance between themselves and Alabama when Kamrean Johnson caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Pavia. Taylor converted the extra point.
Alabama once again threatened to make a comeback when Ryan Williams scored a 2-yard TD. However, time ran out for the Tide, who lost the game 40-35.
