The Walter Camp Football Foundation on Monday released the names of 50 players for its Player of the Year watchlist. The award will be up for grabs once again in the upcoming season.
The 2024 Water Camp Player of the Year watch list features 41 players from the offensive side of the ball. These include 20 quarterbacks, 11 running backs, four wide receivers, two offensive linemen and one tight end.
The nine other players on the 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award watchlist belong to the defensive side of the ball. They include four defensive backs, three defensive linemen and two linebackers.
The preseason watch list features players from 39 different schools across the 10 conferences of the Football Bowl Subdivision, including independents. Ohio State and Notre Dame each have three players on the list, while seven schools have two players apiece.
“We are proud to continue the great work of Walter Camp and recognize the best college football players in the nation,” Foundation president John Barbarotta said.
“This watch list is a great start to what is shaping up to be another exciting year of college football.”
The 2023 edition of the Walter Camp Award was won by LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who's now with the Washington Commanders in the NFL. The award is voted by all coaches in the FBS and sport information directors, and the 2024 winner will be announced on Dec. 12
