The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners faced off in Week 7 of the 2024 college football season. The game was the latest iteration of the Allstate Red River Rivalry.

A part of the number one-ranked Longhorns' celebration has the college football world shaking its head. After the game, one of the Texas players planted a flag on a Baker Mayfield jersey.

CFB fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) weren't having it:

"I could see it if Stutsman’s jersey after last year’s post game celebration. But Baker? That’s odd."

However, some saw nothing wrong with the celebration:

The Texas Longhorns defeated the Oklahoma Sooners handily in Week 7

The Longhorns are the in-form team in the country and they added rivals the Oklahoma Sooners to their hit list. The Longhorns won the game with a sizable 34-3 scoreline.

Quinn Ewers made his long-awaited return from injury and led the Longhorns with 199 passing yards, one touchdown, and one rushing TD. He secured Texas' first Red River Rivalry matchup win as a Southeastern Conference member.

Running back Quintrevion Wisner was also vital to the victory. The pacey runner had a stat line of 118 rushing yards and one rushing TD for the undefeated Longhorns.

What next for the Longhorns?

The Longhorns will face the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8 of the college football season. The Longhorns already have a win against the 2023 defending champions, and next, they will face the 2021 and 2022 national title winners.

The Bulldogs enter the game fresh off a hard-fought victory over Mississippi State. Star quarterback Carson Beck had a trademark game for the Bulldogs, putting up a stat line of 459 passing yards (career-high) and three touchdowns. He also completed 36 passes, equaling the Bulldogs' record, on 48 pass attempts.

In Week 8, the Bulldogs will pay a visit to the No.1 ranked Longhorns in a top-five showdown for the books.
