Mario Cristobal's 15th-ranked Miami will play 18th-ranked Iowa State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Dec. 28. Miami had an outstanding season, barely missing out on spots in the College Football Playoff and the ACC championship. The Hurricanes have been led by quarterback Cameron Ward, who was recently named one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
Despite having the best overall record in their conference, at 10-2, they missed the ACC championship due to their losses to conference rivals Georgia Tech and Syracuse. That, in the end, also cost them their spot in the CFP, despite their No. 13 standing by the selection committee.
