Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia was the star of the show when the Commodores upset the then-No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide 40-35 during Week 6 of college football action. He followed it up with another stellar showing in the 20-13 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 7 to improve the Commodores' record to 4-2 (2-1 Southeastern Conference) for the season.

With all the attention that Pavia has received, including meeting his hero, former Texas A&M Aggies star QB Johnny Manziel, the spotlight turned to his family who were at the Alabama game.

Diego Pavia is the son of Roel Pavia and Antoinette Padilla who both have Hispanic roots, making him ethically Hispanic as well as of American nationality. The Vandy quarterback has two older brothers named Roel Jr. and Javier and a younger sister named Abrielle.

During his postgame news conference after beating the Crimson Tide, Diego Pavia gave a hilarious description of his family.

"If they put a camera on those guys they’d go viral every single time," Pavia said. "Those guys are like ‘holy s**t.’ Some of the stuff ain’t right, but it’s pure comedy. People would love it. If they put a camera on all of us people would pay to watch that."

Diego Pavia has a lot of support from his family

Pavia also revealed how hard it is for his family to attend his games in Nashville from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“It takes a lot of money, a lot of people aren’t rich, they come from the poor South Valley. Super thankful for them, I feel like they were in my corner tonight."

His older brother Roel Jr. described just how competitive Diego was and where the winning mentality that he has came from.

"Since I was a kid, I was the oldest. My younger brother whipped my a**, Diego whipped my a** because they didn’t want to lose," Roel Jr. said via Rivals on Wednesday. "That’s how much they had it preached to them. I want them to win as much as they do.
"In words, you can’t really describe it, you got to be there to experience it. We call this the 'Pavia experience.' We roll deep, everyone from Albuquerque, all our friends and family, all who’s riding with us."

Diego Pavia has become perhaps the most talked about QB in college football after his legacy game against the Alabama Crimson Tide and he had his family with him to witness his big moment.
