The Colorado Buffaloes are one of the bigger stories in college football as they are looking to improve in Year 2 of the Deion Sanders era. However, not everyone is loving themselves some Deion Sanders this season.

On Monday morning, Paul Finebaum went on ESPN's First Take live from the SEC Media Days and discussed how he does not believe that Sanders will lead the Buffaloes to the College Football Playoff in his tenure as head coach.

"I'm not sure that Deion Sanders is ever going to get them to the playoffs, because I don't think he has the patience to stay at Colorado ... You are an easy win nowadays, you got off to a phenomenal start last year beating a couple of mediocre teams that had big names and have done nothing since ... Colorado isn't important in college football."

Coach Prime responded to the clip going around and claimed that Finebaum was "mad" about the situation.

While this feud has seemingly died down since Monday night, it'll be interesting to see how things play out.

Can the Colorado Buffaloes make the College Football Playoff this season?

While the College Football Playoff has expanded to 12 teams this season, it is still difficult to believe that the Colorado Buffaloes are going to be making the CFP. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Buffs are +1400 to make the College Football Playoff and -6000 to miss in their first season in the Big 12 Conference.

The team finished 4-8 last season, but there were some improvements on the roster as they beefed up the offensive line and defense. However, there are still some flaws and having two new coordinators does not help continuity.

In order to make the College Football Playoff, they will have to either win the Big 12 Championship or win 10+ games to be one of the eight at-large bids. Below is their 2024 schedule and it's difficult to see Deion Sanders' team win that many games.

  • 8/29: vs North Dakota State
  • 9/7: at Nebraska
  • 9/14: at Colorado State
  • 9/21: vs Baylor
  • 9/28: at UCF
  • 10/12: vs Kansas State
  • 10/19: at Arizona
  • 10/26: vs Cincinnati
  • 11/9: at Texas Tech
  • 11/16: vs Utah
  • 11/23: at Kansas
  • 11/29: vs Oklahoma State
