Iowa vs. Missouri is a matchup four years in the making

Both teams will be looking to finally get a win over the other after their Music City Bowl matchup was canceled four years ago. They have since competed in bowl games and won one of three matchups.

The Hawkeyes' last postseason win was a 21-0 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 31, 2022. Iowa's defense played a significant role as safety Xavier Nwankpa and cornerback Cooper DeJean had interceptions that led to touchdowns.

Missouri suffered two years of losing bowl games before the Tigers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 14-3 in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Dec. 29, 2023. Quarterback Brady Cook led the team to victory, completing 11 of 18 passes for 128 yards and one touchdown.

Monday's contest will allow the teams to settle the score from the 2020 season.

Iowa vs Missouri: Head-to-head

Both teams enter the TransPerfect Music City Bowl with momentum after winning their last two regular-season games. However, the Tigers may have added motivation with today being the final game of Cook's college career.

Cook will take his final snap for The Tigers after four years. He comes into the bowl game completing 183 passes for 2,248 yards and nine touchdowns for the season. He also has 73 carries for 169 yards and five touchdowns.

DraftKings has the Tigers as the slight betting favorite at -118. Both teams have the talent on both sides of the football to give each other issues. The TransPerfect Music City Bowl could be a close game, as both want to end the season on a high note.
