The Michigan State Spartans host their in-state rivals, the reining national and Big Ten champions, the Michigan Wolverines. In a reversal of fortunes from last season, both schools come in with a 4-3 overall record and a Big Ten one of 2-2.
Although it was always expected for Michigan to drop in quality during Sherrone Moore's first season, the drop has been bigger than many expected. The opposite can be said of Jonathan Smith's turnaround at East Lansing, which has gone better and faster than expected.
The game will air on WMMQ (94.9-FM)/WJIM (1240-AM) in East Lansing, WJR (760-AM) in the Detroit area, and WBFX (101.3-FM) in Grand Rapids. Sirius XM has the game nationally, with channels 160 and 196 airing broadcasts for both schools.

Who's the favorite for Michigan State vs. Michigan? Odds and recent results
The game is almost a tossup, but the Wolverines are slightly favored with them being 4.5-point favorites. ESPN's game predictor is giving them a 67.2% chance of winning the encounter. They're currently both sharing the sixth spot in the standings of the Big Ten, alongside four other schools.
Michigan is currently on a two-game losing streak, after back-to-back defeats on the road against Washington and Illinois (27-17 and 21-7). The Spartans in turn broke a three-game losing streak last time out, by defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes. Before that, they had fallen to Boston College, then No. 3 Ohio State, and then-No. 6 Oregon.
The biggest problem for Michigan has been the quarterback position, as they have been unable to find a reliable replacement for J.J. McCarthy. Their passing leader, Davis Warren, only has 444 yards, with two touchdown passes and six interceptions. His QBR is a very poor 40.8. However, he hasn't played since September 14th, which showcases how poor the Wolverines offense has been.
Jack Tuttle, who has played the last two games, only has 306 passing yards, one touchdown pass, and two interceptions. His QBR is even poorer at 33.6. Both games have been defeats.
