Ohio State vs. Texas: Head-to-head
The last time both teams faced each other was in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5, 2009, when Texas defeated Ohio State 24-21. The Buckeyes will try to avenge their loss as both teams seek to advance to the College Football Playoff national championship game on Jan. 20 in Atlanta. The matchup also presents an opportunity for Ewers to defeat Ohio State, where he played for one season in 2021. He enters the game with 270 completed passes for 3,189 yards and 29 touchdowns this season.
On Wednesday, he led his team to a 39-21 victory over the No. 10 Arizona State Sun Devils (11-3) in the Peach Bowl. Ewers finished the New Year's Day contest by completing 20 of 30 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns.
Ewers will try to have another strong performance to help Texas defeat Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl Classic.
