The No. 22 SMU Mustangs are on track to compete in their third consecutive bowl game. In Week 9, the Mustangs won a close, 28-27 overtime game over the Duke Blue Devils to stay undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The 20th-ranked Mustangs (7-1, 4-0 ACC) have ripped off four consecutive conference wins, taking down the Florida State Seminoles 42-16, the then-No. 22 Louisville Cardinals 34-27, the Stanford Cardinal 40-10 and then Duke. SMU's Week 9 win made the Mustangs bowl-eligible.
The Mustangs last competed in a bowl game last year. They finished the 2023 season with an 11-2 record and faced the Boston College Eagles in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Dec. 28, losing 23-14.

This season presents an opportunity for the Mustangs to avenge last year's disappointing postseason and end the year on a high note.

College Football Week 10: Pittsburgh vs. SMU
On Saturday, the Mustangs will host the No. 18 Pittsburgh Panthers (7-0, 3-0) in a home game at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The Panthers have the potential to give SMU a tougher matchup than the Blue Devils. Pittsburgh is coming off a dominant 41-13 win over the Syracuse Orange (5-2, 2-2) in Week 9.
Although the Panthers present a different challenge than Duke, SMU is still favored to win.
