After securing numerous records and achievements during his tenure at Alabama, Nick Saban announced his decision to retire on January 10, 2024. This was only a few days after the Crimson Tide suffered a disappointing 27-20 loss against the Michigan Wolverines.

The changed face of college football didn't sit well with coach Saban and was among the main factors behind his decision to hang his boots.

During a conversation with ESPN, the 7x championship-winning coach opened up about incidents that led him to his decision:

"I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn’t do it, and then showing your a** and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that’s not who we are and what we’ve promoted in our program.
"I thought we could have a hell of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I’m going to play because they’re thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?” Saban said.

The 7x national champ was replaced by former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer who has an overall 104-12 coaching record.

What is Nick Saban doing now?

Coach Saban now spends his time playing golf with many celebrities like Trvavis Scott and Mark Ingrim while helping Miss Terry with some chores around the house.

Saban has had a hectic coaching career, due to which he wasn't able to spend time with his family. His family now includes his wife, daughter Kristen Saban, and son Nicholas, along with his grandkids.

Apart from household duties and past-time activities, the former Alabama head coach will be making a comeback to the game, but in a different role this time.

A few weeks following his retirement, it was announced that he would be joining the ESPN crew as an analyst. He made his first appearances in the 2024 NFL Draft and the SEC Media Days.

After appearing at the SEC Media Days for 17 years in total, Nick Saban was hilariously denied entry to the event as he didn't have proper credentials. This was one of the most popular moments from the event.

Fans would be interested to see how the new Alabama crew performs in their first season in the post-Nick Saban era.
