Arch Manning is among the most talked-about players in the college football world owing to his ties with NFL legends Peyton Manning and Eli Manning.
The Texas quarterback room is one of the deepest in the 2024 season. With Quinn Ewers coming back for another year, Manning will have to sit on the bench before getting an opportunity to start for the Longhorns.
Due to Ewers' decision not to declare for the 2024 NFL draft, many fans and analysts advised Arch Manning to enter the transfer portal in search of more playing time. However, Steve Sarkisian and Manning have clarified their intentions to stick to the process and continue in Texas.
During the Longhorns' SEC celebration, Paul Finebaum gave a shocking prediction about who will start for Texas in 2024 as QB1:
“That would be Arch Manning. I don’t need to tiptoe around that. That is guaranteed. You heard it. We may even see him a little bit throughout the season.”
However, Paul Finebaum clarified his comments on "SEC Now" later that day:
“I may be feeble, but I’m not that feeble, when the guy said end of the season? I thought he meant end of the season. I don’t want to back away from anything I said but I did give an interview earlier to a young man with the local tv. I’ve been seeing that pop up and I’m, like, going, ‘What was I drinking?'
“I’m glad that you gave me a chance to clarify it because I really was thinking end of season. He’s going to be the starter next year and I said guaranteed, mark it down. I would never impugn Ewers because I think he’s probably the second-best quarterback in the country starting the year.”
Peyton Manning on Arch Manning's decision to stay at Texas
Super Bowl champ Peyton Manning's nephew, Arch Manning often makes headlines surrounding his decision to not enter the transfer portal, contrary to what many expected him to do.
During an interview on "The Pat McAfee Show," Peyton gave his two cents on the situation and conveyed satisfaction with his nephew's decision:
"I'm pulling hard for my nephew," Manning said. "I'm proud of him and how he's handled himself at Texas. I'm looking forward to watching him throughout his career there."
Fans will be interested to see Manning take the stage for a few games in the 2024 college football season, especially after seeing glimpses of his electrifying abilities during spring game and fall camp practise sessions.
