Carson Beck is one of the best quarterbacks in collegiate football right now. Beck is the undisputed starter on Kirby Smart's Bulldogs, and he's targeting his third national championship in 2024.
Before joining the Georgia Bulldogs, Beck attended Mandarin High School. Here, let's examine his high school career and how he became one of the most essential names in college football.
Carson Beck stood out at Mandarin High School
Carson Beck played for Mandarin High School and broke out during his junior season. The season before he took over the starting job at Mandarin, the program finished 2-8. However, as a junior, Beck led the team to an 8A Florida State championship and the first state championship in program history.
After his stellar junior performances, Beck earned loads of offers from collegiate powerhouses like Miami, Alabama and Georgia. Beck kept the offers to his chest and balled out in his senior high school season. He put up a stat line of 1,843 yards and 20 touchdowns. After his senior season, Beck initially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide before flipping to Georgia, and as they say, the rest is history.
Carson Beck enters his second season as a starter
Carson Beck spent his first few seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs as Stetson Bennett's understudy. He won two college football national championships in that role, being a part of one of the strongest QB rooms in the nation.
However, following Bennett's entry into the NFL, Beck promptly became the Bulldogs' starting quarterback. He was thoroughly impressed in his first year in the role, leading the Bulldogs to an unbeaten record in the CFP regular season. However, the Bulldogs lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game, ending their chances of a historic three-peat.
Expect Beck and the Bulldogs to be firing on all cylinders in 2024. They remain one of the favorites to win in the revamped playoff format.
