Garret Rangel is an American football quarterback who currently plays for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and is a redshirt sophomore as of 2024.

He chose Oklahoma State over offers from Utah, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Houston.

In 2022, as a redshirt freshman, he played in four games and started three, finishing the year with 711 passing yards and four touchdowns. He completed 59 of 115 pass attempts, with five interceptions. His performance ranked third among Power Five true freshmen in passing yards and first among Big 12 true freshmen. In his first career start against Kansas, Rangel threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns, making it the second-most passing yards by a Cowboy true freshman in his first start. He later started in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against Wisconsin, where he passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns, including an 84-yard touchdown pass.

In 2023, as a freshman, Rangel was named to the first-team Academic All-Big 12. He appeared in five games and started the season opener against Central Arkansas, where he was part of a quarterback rotation. He completed 17 of 32 pass attempts for 172 yards and two touchdowns, adding six carries for 21 yards. Rangel's standout performances included touchdown passes to Brennen Presley and a season-high 118 passing yards against UCA.

As a highly sought-after recruit, Rangel was rated as a four-star prospect by both ESPN and 247Sports. He was listed in the ESPN300 and ranked as the No. 282 overall prospect in the nation. In Texas, he was ranked as the No. 46 overall player by ESPN. Nationally, he was considered one of the top 25 quarterbacks in his class, with ESPN ranking him No. 14, 247Sports ranking him No. 23, and Rivals placing him at No. 25.
