According to reports, Connor Stalions was born in Michigan, Detroit. His parents, Brock and Kelly, graduated from the University of Michigan and even coached several sports in the community. Both currently reportedly work as teachers at Scripps Middle School in Lake Orion.

Connor attended Lake Orion High School where he played basketball and football, while also being a member of the school's power-lifting team. Despite his affection for the University of Michigan and plans to join the program. Connor opted to join the Marines and enrolled at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Connor graduated from the Naval Academy in 2017 and was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer. He climbed the ranks and became a captain before completing his five-year military commitment.

While performing his military commitment, Connor worked voluntarily as Michigan football's offensive analyst. He was named the January Soldier Coach of the Month in 2022 after helping the Wolverines win the Big Ten championship.

Connor later recalled how his parents influenced his decision to become a football coach.

“I’ve grown up my entire life with a vision to coach football at Michigan. I stopped playing football junior year of high school to coach with my dad’s 8th grade football team. Then I decided to go to the Naval Academy after high school, where I student-coached with the football staff," Connor said.
Those experiences confirmed my passion for coaching – specifically with my Dad’s middle school team. I had always wanted to coach but getting the opportunity to coach at a young age realigned my why."
Going into that experience, I wanted to coach for the X’s and O’s and the wins. Coming out of that experience, I became like an older brother to the players on that team and made some great connections with them, realigning that internal purpose for coaching.”

Per reports, Connor joined Michigan's coaching staff in May 2022 as a full-time employee. He was hired as an off-field analyst.

Stalions went on to help Michigan win another Big Ten championship during the 2022 season.

In Oct. 2023, Michigan suspended Connor after his alleged involvement in a sign-stealing scandal. He resigned from his post a month later. The Wolverines, nonetheless, went through the last season undefeated and won the national title.

After Michigan's triumph, Stalions was spotted celebrating with fans at a bar in Houston. He was also rewarded with a bucket of free beer from a fan.
