Louisville's win streak heading into game against Washington
The Cardinals come into the bowl game on a two-game winning streak in the regular season. Louisville was able to dominate the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Kentuck Wildcats. In their last game, the team had a 41-14 victory against the Wildcats in Week 14 on Nov. 30.
Meanwhile, Washington enters the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl looking to regroup after losing 49-21 to the Oregon Ducks on Nov. 30. The season was a setback for Washington, who competed in the national championship game last season.
DraftKings has Louisville as a slight favorite at -130 to get their third consecutive win. However, the team will be without their quarterback, Tyler Shough.
Tyler Shough declaring for 2025 NFL draft leaves Louisville with backup quarterback for Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Shough declared for the 2025 NFL draft on Dec. 11. He had a great season for the Cardinals, completing 244 passes for 3,195 yards and 23 touchdowns. While Shough's announcement may have been expected, he also decided to opt out of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
The loss of Shough wouldn't be the only issue Louisville has heading into their matchup with Washington. Louisville quarterback Pierce Clarkson announced on Dec. 20 that he was entering the transfer portal and wouldn't compete in the bowl game.
Cardinals coach Jeff Brohm will look to quarterback Harrison Bailey to step up in the starting role in their upcoming game. Bailey has limited playing time this season, completing eight passes for 63 yards.
The quarterback change could swing the momentum into Washington's favor to snap their opponent's winning streak.
