Mike Gundy took over as head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowboys in January 2005. He is currently the longest-serving coach for a single team in the Big 12.
As Gundy prepares for this 20th season with Oklahoma State, fans have been curious to learn more about his personal life, especially his wife, Kristen Gundy.
Kristen was born on Sept. 9, 1968, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She has three brothers, Carl, Chad and Craig, all of whom played college football. Kristen's father, Danny, passed away in September 2017.
Kristen attended Midwest City High School and later studied at Oklahoma State University. She was a promising basketball player until a car accident ended her college career.
Notably, Kristen had known Mike since she was in the sixth grade. They were childhood sweethearts, and they even went to college together at OSU.
Kristen and Mike married on June 14, 1991. The couple has three boys together, Gunner, Gavin and Gage.
As per reports, the Gundys have a soft spot for domestic animals and keep them as part of their extended family. The family has four dogs, two cats, a parrot, two parakeets, a tree frog and a fish tank.
In April this year, Kristen and Mike reportedly put their six-bedroom, ranch-style mansion in Stillwater on sale for $8 million. While there were rumors that the couple might leave Oklahoma, the Cowboys coach insisted that he and his wife weren't going anywhere and that he still shared the team's best interests.
