Five-star prospect Ryan Wingo finally announced his commitment to Texas on Wednesday. The highly-rated wide receiver seemed to have a hard time choosing between Missouri and Texas in the last few weeks. However, he has decided to join the Longhorns.
Wingo is the nation's No. 15 overall prospect and No. 6 wide receiver in the class of 2024, according to Sportskeeda's recruitment composite ranking. Evidently, the parents of the St. Louis University (Missouri) pass catcher played a role in his commitment decision. Let's take a look at their identity.
Who are Ryan Wingo's parents, Ronnie and Tiffany Wingo?
Ryan Wingo's parents are Ronnie Sr. and Tiffany Wingo. They've been married since the 1980s.
Their marriage produced four children -- three sons and a daughter. Ronnie Sr. and Tiffany were able to instill high-level discipline that helped facilitate success in their children while growing up. The wide receiver’s parents have built a family of successful athletes.
"It's hard work. It's getting up at five, six o'clock in the morning running hills, push-ups, sit-ups... and just working hard and staying consistent," Ronnie Sr. said of preparing his kids for football."
All three of Ronnie Sr. and Tiffany Wingo's sons have achieved notable feats in the world of football. Aside from Ryan Wingo, who is the last son, Ronnie Wingo Jr. attended the University of Arkansas and played in the NFL and CFL, while Raymond Wingo played college football with Missouri.
Evidently, the three sons took after their father, Ronnie Sr., who was a brilliant football player during his high school days. Ronnie Sr. had an impressive high school football career as a two-time all-state cornerback at Sumner High School in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1989 and 1990, and also won a state championship.
Ronnie Wingo Sr. committed to Michigan State following his high school career, despite some other offers, and started his college football career with the Spartans. However, he moved to Louisville midway through his university days to play for the Cardinals.
Not much is known about Ryan Wingo's mother. However, all three of her athletic sons have spoken highly of her, and largely emphasized her commitment to setting the tone at home.
"It's kind of crazy. She's the one who's on us about everything from school to chores and just being on us hard," Ronnie Jr. said of his mom. "At the time it was like, 'Ah, you nag me'. But when I got older, I appreciate her so much for just being on us."
Tiffany Wingo has also helped raise a daughter, Ronnesha, who has achieved significant success in the field of chemistry in Louisiana.
