The SMU Mustangs versus Duke Blue Devils Week 9 showdown will be hosted at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Last week, SMU secured a dominating 40-10 victory over the Stanford Cardinal. This helped it secure a four-game winning streak while recording a 6-1 record (3-0 ACC) in seven games.

On the other hand, Duke (6-1, 2-1 ACC) enters Week 9 following a 23-16 victory over Florida State. This victory came after its five-game winning streak was broken by Georgia Tech.

Who are the SMU vs. Duke starting quarterbacks?

SMU starting QB:

Initially at the start of the season, Preston Stone started the first three games after recovering from injury while Kevin Jennings served as the backup. However, due to inconsistency in performance, Jennings was named as the QB1 during the team's open week.

So far, Kevin Jennings has helped the SMU Mustangs win all four games he started. He has recorded a total of 1,336 passing yards and nine TD passes along with 280 rushing yards and two touchdowns in seven games. His dual-threat ability might be the game-changer against Duke in Week 9.

Duke starting QB:

Maalik Murphy will continue his duties under center as the Blue Devils' starter. He transferred from Texas this offseason and has been pretty consistent with his performance so far.

In seven games, Murphy has tallied a total of 1,501 passing yards and 14 TD passes while throwing five interceptions. However, he did not have a decent game during Duke's victory over Florida State where he put up just 70 passing yards while completing 12-of-24 pass attempts.

Murphy will look to showcase his firepower and help the Duke Blue Devils emerge victorious at home against the SMU Mustangs.
