There was a lot of interest in Arch Manning's recruitment process, owing to his relation with Super Bowl champs Eli and Peyton Manning and also because he's the grandson of legendary NFL quarterback Archie Manning.
Arch commenced his high school journey in 2019 and stuck with the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans for all four years. He decided to graduate early in December 2022. During his time with the Greenies, he threw 8,539 yards and scored 115 touchdowns on 642 passes.
Arch was among the top-ranked prospects in his recruiting class and received offers from powerhouses like Georgia, Alabama and LSU. During an interview with "Bussin with the Boys" in 2023, Steve Sarkisian talked about how the recruiting process took place with the former five-star prospect:
"In the process of never talked to Peyton, I never talked to Eli, I talked to Cup, I talked to Ellen, I talked to arch, I talk to hyde, I talked to his sister, like it was about the family. It wasn't about the Manning brand.
"It was about Arch Manning and is this the best fit for him to go to school football wise, academically, socially, the city of Austin, I think that's why they got to the to a spot to where they can make a really kind of just clear minded decision on what was best for him."
Sarikisian added:
"It was at this enormous media circus. I mean, they kept that thing pretty tight, but they went about it in a positive way.
"They created relationships with with the coaches in the various schools, and they're all great schools. Ultimately, they felt like this was the best place for him."
When will Arch Manning start at Texas?
Steve Sarkisian has done a great job at developing one of the deepest quarterback rooms in the nation currently. With top Heisman Trophy runner Quinn Ewers as the starting QB and Arch Manning as backup, the Longhorns find themselves in a good spot heading into the 2024 college football season.
However, Manning's transfer portal chatter has been the talk of the town ever since the 2023 season ended. That's because Quinn Ewers was expected to declare for the 2024 NFL draft after last season but decided to run it back for another year, leaving Arch waiting for his opportunity for at least another year.
Unless Ewers sustains an injury, he will be the starting quarterback for the Longhorns throughout the season, and Arch Manning will take the reins in 2025.
Fans will be interested to see Arch Manning take the stage in 2025 and potentially lead the Longhorns to a college football playoff spot.
