Texas Longhorns star Quinn Ewers had a bit of a journey before eventually ending up with Steve Sarkisian's crew.
Ewers spent his final year at Carrol High School and was a five-star prospect, with offers from many talent powerhouses like TCU, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU and more.
After deciding to end his high school career early, Ewers announced his commitment to Texas in August 2020 but ended up decommitting in October. He finally decided to join Ryan Day's Ohio State in November and officially enrolled on Aug. 15, 2021.

In an interview with 24x7, Quinn Ewers spoke about what contributed to his decision to decommit from Texas despite being a native there:
“Probably because a Texas team hasn't been in the running for a national championship in a little while. And I don't know about other guys, but like me I just, I just want to compete at the highest, highest level.
"Obviously, one day they will get back there and it'll be great. But right now, it's just, I’m just tired seeing that happen. Obviously, Texas A&M was really close last year.”
However, after spending a year with the Buckeyes, Ewers went back to his roots and joined Sarkisian's team to look for more opportunities.
“I just have so much more resources down here, this is where I'm close to Austin, being up in Dallas, close to being from here, and just a lot more resources, close to home, close to family members. It was just a little, little bit too far for me,” he said [Timestamp - 6:38].
