Iowa vs Iowa State is set to kick off on Saturday afternoon. It will be the 71st time meeting between these two teams. Iowa has dominated the rivalry, accumulating a 47-23 record in games dating back to 1894. The Hawkeyes have won eight of the last 10 matchups, including a win last year. This year Iowa will host the game after playing on the road in three of the last four years.

Why is Iowa vs Iowa State in Kinnick Stadium?

This in-state rivalry game will be played at Kinnick Stadium, the home of the Iowa Hawkeyes. The game will be held there because the teams alternate hosting this matchup every year — with one exception. Iowa should have hosted the game in 2020 but it did not take place because of the pandemic.

Kinnick Stadium weather update for Iowa vs Iowa State

Weather should not be an issue for the matchup as the forecast has clear skies and no risk of rain. The high for the day is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. With the game set to start at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the temperature will likely be around the high for the day. However, it could cool down by the end of the game so fans should dress accordingly.

Iowa vs Iowa State locations in the last 5 years

The last five matchups have been hosted by Iowa twice and Iowa State thrice. Iowa State hosted the game last year, and Iowa won 20-13. In 2022 Iowa hosted, but Iowa State won the low-scoring game 10-7. In 2021, it was back in Iowa State and both teams had a top 10 ranking during the matchup. Iowa came out on top 27-17.

There was no game in 2020 because of the pandemic, so in 2019, it was hosted by Iowa State and Iowa won 18-17. Iowa hosted in 2018 and won a low-scoring game that ended 13-3.

It will be interesting to see if this week's game will be another low-scoring affair.
