Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who transferred from Miami to Wisconsin after the 2023 season, now has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to lead his team to a successful 2024 season. The Luke Fickell-coached Badgers are already off to a strong start with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2020.

They pulled off a 28-14 victory against the Western Michigan Broncos in Week 1 and defeated South Dakota with a somewhat similar scoreline of 27-13. However, their real test begins in Week 3 as they play the No. 4 Crimson Tide on Saturday.

In his first two games for Wisconsin, Van Dyke gave out promising performances, but will he continue to start for the Badgers in Week 3?

Yes, Tyler Van Dyke will be the starting quarterback for the Badgers in Week 3 when they play against the Crimson Tide. Wisconsin released its depth chart for the upcoming game, and Luke Fickell will be moving forward with a similar lineup as that of Week 2. Van Dyke will be the QB1, and Braedyn Locke will be his backup quarterback.

The only change for the team is that star linebacker Jake Chaney will miss the first half of Saturday's game after being ejected for targeting in the second half of the game against South Dakota.

Tyler Van Dyke’s Performance in the First Two Weeks

The Badgers' starting quarterback has led his team to back-to-back victories in Weeks 1 and 2. In the first week against the Broncos, he threw for 192 yards, completing 21 of 36 passes, and rushed for 21 yards with one rushing touchdown. In the second week against the Coyotes, he completed 17 of 27 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown. He currently has a quarterback rating of 31.6.

The Week 3 matchup against Alabama will be crucial for Van Dyke, who is playing his fifth season and is expected to enter the NFL draft next year. If he manages to upset Alabama in Madison this Saturday, he will be in the spotlight. However, it won’t be easy, as the Tide are heavily favored and ranked No. 4.

The Badgers will host the Week 3 game on their home turf, Camp Randall Stadium, in Madison, Wisconsin. The matchup will kick off at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT on Saturday and will be broadcast live on Fox.
