Steve Sarkisian made waves as Texas had its first successful season under their new head coach, along with quarterback Quinn Ewers at the wheel. With an overall 12-2 record and a remarkable 34-24 win against Nick Saban's Alabama, the Longhorns will be carrying momentum into the 2024 season.

Sarkisian developed one of the deepest quarterback rooms in the country with talent like Arch Manning, Trey Owens and Quinn Ewers.

The Texas head coach has also done a great job of using the transfer portal and NIL to his advantage, as he brought in former Alabama stars Amari Niblack and Isaiah Bond.

In a conversation with former Ravens star Robert Griffin III, Quinn Ewers spoke highly of head coach Steve Sarkisian:

"Just him being in the position that we've been in, he played college quarterback, and then went to the Canadian League. So he obviously knows. He knows what it feels like to be in our shoes. And, you know, he said, I mean, we're getting, we're getting a PhD in quarterback play here.
"So, he's been there. He's done that, he's had, you know, Heisman Trophy winners, he's had first-round draft picks. So, mean, you'd be silly not to trust the guy." (20:36)

Quinn Ewers on his relationship with Arch Manning

The quarterback competition at Texas has been a point of discussion ever since the 2023 college football season ended.

The conversation escalated after Arch Manning's electrifying performance during the 2024 spring game, where he threw a 75-yard touchdown on his first attempt. Manning went 11-for-13 for 189 yards while scoring two touchdowns in the first half of the game.

While many expected Manning to hit the transfer portal, he clarified his intentions to stay in Texas and stick to the process there.

In the same conversation, Quinn Ewers opened up about his competitive yet close relationship with Manning:

"I think we're really intense competitors. And we all want the same outcome. But at the end of the day, I think we're better humans, and I think we're better people. And I think that we really enjoy each other's company in that quarterback room." (18:40)
