Ryan Williams is one of the brightest spots on Kalen DeBoer's Alabama Crimson Tide team. The freshman wide receiver has brought excitement and youth to the team's offense, and he's looking like one for the present and future.
Speaking to ESPN's Marty Smith, he spoke about a variety of topics, including his painted nails. The star freshman said to the interviewer:
"I remember my teammates being like, 'Why are you painting your nails?' I'm like, 'It's for my little sister. You got something against it?' And next thing you know, they were getting their nails done."
The receiver has sported numerous nail colors this season, and it's clear that he's looking forward to doing more. It's for a worthy cause, and as long as he keeps performing on the gridiron, it's unlikely that the Crimson Tide fans will have any issues with the gesture.
How is Ryan Williams performing in 2024?
Ryan Williams joined the Crimson Tide for the 2024 college football season after an impressive high school career with Saraland. He was highly recruited due to his frame, speed and elusiveness on the run.
The pass catcher reminded scouts of a certain Amari Cooper, who shone with the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban's tutelage.
Williams announced his presence to the country with two catches, 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the first game of the Kalen DeBoer era.
The game ended 63-0 and made Crimson Tide fans look forward to a new and exciting era for the storied program.
Williams has enjoyed some other sensational games, such as the 177-yard game against the Georgia Bulldogs and the 82-yard receiving game off two catches plus one touchdown against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
He will only get better as he gets used to the intricacies of college football and once he adds some muscle to his frame.
In the meantime, the Crimson Tide will look to maintain their faltering college football playoff hopes when they face the Missouri Tigers in Week 9.
Following losses to Vanderbilt and Tennessee, the team is ranked 15th in the country. They'll need to avoid more setbacks until the end of the regular season to make the expanded playoffs.
