Johnny Manziel and Arch Manning are both part of football royalty. Manziel is one of the greatest collegiate quarterbacks of all time and has the records to back up his claim. Manning comes from the Manning Family Tree, which comprises three superstar quarterbacks with numerous NFL records and four Super Bowl victories.
Hence, it shouldn't be surprising that Manning is often compared to collegiate and professional stars of past and present. So when he rocked a Halloween outfit reminiscent of one that Johnny Manziel wore a few years ago, college football fans had plenty to say on X (formerly Twitter).
"That’s johnnys costume. They wanna be like us so bad," another tweeted.
Some fans were more sympathetic to the Texas Longhorns quarterback.
"Feels like he just paying respects to the goat," one tweeted.
"He dares to where the scoob fit!!!!!!!!!!" Another tweeted.
How has Arch Manning performed in 2024?
Arch Manning entered the 2024 college football season as Quinn Ewers' primary backup on the Texas Longhorns. He got his chance to start some games after Ewers suffered an abdominal strain against UTSA. Manning seized the opportunity and showcased his skill set as an elite passer at the collegiate level.
Manning has amassed a stat line of 920 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions this season. His best game was against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, as he passed for 325 yards and two TDs. He also added 33 yards on the ground and a rushing score for good measure. Speaking of rushing, Manning broke off into a 55-yard run against the UTSA Roadrunners in Week 3.
He's proving all the stereotypes about the lack of elite runners in the Manning household wrong.
The Texas Longhorns rank sixth on the AP Poll. They were ranked No. 1 for a while before the Georgia Bulldogs dispatched them handily in Week 7. Their next game is against the Florida Gators, as they look to finish the year strong and make a deep run in the expanded playoffs.
