In the epilogue section, Peter Quill decided to retire as a Guardian and spend some time with his grandfather on Earth. Then, after an end-credits scene involving him and his grandfather, a white screen appeared saying:
“The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return”
So, now that Peter Quill is on Earth, fans are left asking where he could appear next. Since Earth is the central hub of cataclysmic events in the MCU, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill could make a cameo or play an important role in literally any of the upcoming MCU projects. The following list of projects reveals where he could show up next.
Every movie where the Legendary Star-Lord could appear
The Marvels
The Captain Marvel sequel features multiple cosmic characters and most of its events will also take place off Earth. But it’s plausible that the likes of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan will be back on Terra after their cosmic adventures by the end of the film.
That’s when Chris Pratt could make a cameo as Peter Quill and surprise the audience by trying to work his charm on Rambeau or Danvers. He could even befriend young Kamala and recruit her for his own new team in his solo movie.
The Legendary Star-Lord movie
The title of “Legendary” Star-Lord holds a huge meaning in the comics. So, it’s possible that his legend in the MCU could continue with his own solo outing. Considering that Earth is crawling with heroes right now, it’s also possible that Peter Quill could form a new team of misfits on Earth and lead them.
Both Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau would be great candidates to join his team. Other members of the squad could potentially be White Vision, Wonder Man, Nova, and several others. Amongst the old Guardians, Star-Lord is the only character that carries enough weight to start a new franchise.
The whole point of Peter Quill’s solo outing would be for him to form some interesting and surprising team-ups on Earth. And that’s what Marvel could be planning. His film could be one of the unannounced projects that bridge the gap between Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Nova
Instead of a solo Star-Lord movie, Peter Quill could also mentor a new young hero like Sam Alexander. A Nova movie has been under development for a while. Rumors suggest that it will feature Richard Rider as an older Nova and Sam Alexander as his young protégé.
But instead of bringing two different Novas, one interesting idea would be to team up either of them with Peter Quill. Given that Quill has allied with the Nova Corps. in the past, he could be a great mentor for young Sam Alexander or form a buddy-cop friendship with Richard Rider in the upcoming Nova movie.
Captain America: New World Order
Star-Lord has fought alongside Iron Man, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man, but he did not get a chance to team up with Captain America. Even though Steve Rogers isn’t around for now, we could see Peter Quill making a cameo towards the end of New World Order to form a union with Sam Wilson. That would be the perfect setup for him to appear in Avengers 5.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
While the aforementioned projects are all possible, it would be easy to predict that the main reason for sending Peter Quill back to Earth was to put him in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. He could straightaway team up with the likes of Captain America and Captain Marvel, and add more weight to the Avengers lineup with his cosmic experience.
With Chris Pratt appearing in Avengers 5, the roster of actors involved in the film also becomes more significant. After all, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty certainly needs more A-listers with most of the OG cast all gone, and the likes of Thor & Doctor Strange being off-world.
Avengers: Secret Wars
Star-Lord played a huge role in Infinity War, and then only showed up for a short while in Endgame. Something similar could happen with his character in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. But needless to say, Peter Quill will surely be a strong contender to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars after Avengers 5. That’s where he might also reunite with a few Guardians.
