Vice-captain in Tests and the quintessential team man, Rahane has slowly risen up the ranks to become one of India’s most reliable batsman. He was aptly rewarded for his contributions with an ‘A’ contract by the BCCI for this season. He also got a taste of ODI captaincy, leading the Indian team to the tour of Zimbabwe last year.
Due to Rajasthan Royals’ suspension, Rahane joined was part of the pre-auction draft, and was signed up by Pune to play this season of the IPL. He ended up being the highest run getter for his team, and seventh overall, with 480 runs in 14 matches.
