It hasn’t been a smooth sailing for this southpaw in the past one year. Once an automatic choice in India’s limited-overs squads, Raina hasn’t played an ODI for almost a year, and was last seen in Indian colours during the World T20 a few months ago.

Known for his dynamic batting in the shortest format, Raina was acquired by, and made captain of, the Gujarat Lions in this IPL. He had an indifferent season, managing 399 runs in 15 games. He also got demoted from Grade A to B as part of the BCCI central contracts.
