Samson was part of the squad but did not play the T20I
India rarely picked a specialist wicket-keeper batsman in limited-overs cricket back then because Dhoni did not get injured too often. But on this trip, Sanju Samson was selected as a back-up to Dhoni, thanks to his impressive showings in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals.

He, however, did not get to play a single game on the tour.
Mohit Sharma
Sharma was impressive in the short time with the team
After some fine performances in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings, Mohit Sharma got the nod in the squad as the back-up seamer and impressed in the ODIs and took a solitary wicket in the lone T20I.
A few months later, he found himself in the World Cup squad after Ishant Sharma was ruled out due to injury but inconsistent performances meant that he soon lost his place in the side and has found it hard to get it back since then.
