After Rohit Sharma got injured in the first ODI and was ruled out of the rest of the tour, Ajinkya Rahane was pushed to open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan and he did a splendid job of it, scoring his maiden ODI ton and then laying the foundation with the bat during the chase in the lone T20I.

The right-hander's fortunes, however, went through several crests and troughs after that tour and eventually he was not selected for the limited-overs leg of the tour this time around.

Mohammed Shami

The fast bowler was part of the side and looked good in the ODIs, but failed to show the same spark in the T20I. Injuries have played a major role ever since then in Shami's career as he has failed to represent India with the consistency that he would have liked.

He will hope to make a return to coloured clothing soon.
