Gautam Gambhir
Much like Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir also started his IPL journey with the Delhi Capitals. In the inaugural season, he performed extremely well scoring 534 runs in 14 matches. However, his performances dropped in the next two seasons and he wasn’t retained by the franchise owners.

Post-release he went on to play for Kolkata Knight Riders. This is where he excelled. He even led KKR to two IPL titles and became one of the most successful captains in the IPL.
After 7 successful seasons with KKR, he returned to Delhi Capitals in 2018. However, he was a shadow of his former self. He had his worst season in 2018 scoring only 85 runs in 6 games. He decided to step down from captaincy mid-season and removed himself from the playing XI.
It is debatable whether DC should’ve held on to him for a couple more seasons when he was in good touch. He could’ve been a successful captain for them and maybe he could’ve led them to their first IPL title.

Sunil is a pro wrestling journalist, covering AEW and WWE news stories at Sportskeeda. He holds an MBA degree in Marketing, and has nearly 7 years of experience. A wrestling aficionado since childhood, Sunil used to imitate his favorite wrestlers as a young kid, and started writing professionally about the sport via Sportskeeda’s revenue-sharing opportunity.
Sunil admires former world champions AJ Styles, Will Ospreay, and Kenny Omega for their ability to consistently deliver great matches as well as entertain crowds with their mic skills.
If ever given a chance to change a storyline, Sunil would have booked Roman Reigns to end The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak instead of Brock Lesnar. According to him, The Tribal Chief needed the victory more than Brock Lesnar, as the latter was already an established performer when he defeated ‘Taker. He would’ve also made that as Taker’s final match.
Always focused on making his work accurate and reliable, Sunil thoroughly checks his facts before writing his articles. When not writing for pro wrestling, he spends his time watching cricket.
