The Delhi franchise is the only team who has never played the IPL final. Though Deccan and Sunrisers are two different teams but since they represent the same city i.e. Hyderabad, so it is only Delhi who has never played the coveted IPL final. Also, they have another dubious record of scoring the most number of below-100 scores in the IPL.
Delhi played in two semifinals in 2008 and 2009 and qualified for the playoffs in 2012. Despite having a great team at their disposal Delhi failed to qualify for the grand finale on all the three occasions.
In 2008 and 2009 they were beaten by the eventual champions Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers respectively in the semis.
Let’s see if Delhi can turn its fortunes around this season.
