IPL 2018: 2 players who can solve CSK's bowling woes

After winning their first two matches, CSK suffered a minor setback, losing the game against Kings XI Punjab. Even though CSK have won two of the three matches they have played so far and are still among the top four teams in the points table, they have a critical issue to address.

CSK's bowling-attack has looked thin, failing to deliver at crucial junctures. The bowlers have given away too many runs, making it difficult for their batsmen to chase down the target. In their last two matches, CSK's bowlers have given away runs at almost 10 per over. KKR plundered 202 runs, while Kings XI Punjab managed 197 runs.

Experienced spinners like Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir have bowled well in patches but haven't been able to put on a consistent show. As far as the pacers are concerned, Dwayne Bravo delivered a match-changing spell against Mumbai Indians but was ineffective thereafter.

Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma was bought in the auction for a whopping INR 5 crore. Strangely though, CSK haven't used him yet. The all-rounder was very impressive playing for Mumbai Indians last season. In the 9 matches he played for the franchise last year, Karn took 13 wickets at an outstanding economy of 6.97 runs per over.

He can replace either Harbhajan Singh or Imran Tahir, and provide important wickets in the middle overs which will help CSK restrict the opposition to a low total. Karn Sharma's inclusion can solve CSK's spin bowling problems.

David Willey

David Willey has represented England in 20 T20I matches

After losing crucial players like Kedar Jadhav and Mitchell Santner to injuries, CSK selected David Willey to strengthen the team. The left-arm seamer has been a regular in the England T20I side for a long time now. With CSK pacers struggling to find rhythm in the powerplays, Willey can be included in the side to provide crucial breakthroughs at the start of the innings. He is also a more-than-handy lower-order batsman and can score quick runs at the end of the innings. With CSK lacking a left-arm fast bowling option in the squad, Willey's inclusion can give them much-needed variety.
