2nd Ashes Test, Day 3: Australia lead by 362 runs with 10 wickets in hand

Australia have England on the mat at stumps on Day 3, with a lead of 362 runs in the 2^nd innings and 10 wickets in hand. David Warner (60 off 84 balls) and Chris Rogers (44 off 72 balls) were untroubled as they played out the last session of Day 3 – Adam Lyth guilty of having dropped Warner once off James Anderson’s bowling.

Earlier in the day, England’s resistance came to an end when captain Alastair Cook’s brave innings was brought to an end by an inside edge off Mitchell Marsh’s bowling, having made 96 off 233 balls.

Michael Clarke of Australia carried on his usual practice of not resorting to follow-ons, not sending in the hosts to bat again despite having the option. The Aussie openers responded to their captain’s call, putting up brisk runs.

Day 4 is set to see an Aussie attack in the first session, who will be looking to get runs in quick time so that England can be made to face the most amount of time in their effort to save the 2^nd Test.
