A simple glance at the scorecard would not tell the real story behind how this was a tough win for India. But, looking at the context of the series this test match became the most crucial among all the three.

Before the third test match, India had lost the first test match spectacularly and won the second test match comfortably. But there was still the impending threat of Herath's vicious spell that India had not recovered from.
