Sanju Samson is a right-handed top-order batsman, who also keeps wicket for his side. He plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL and is the youngest player to captain a Ranji trophy side (Kerala). Moreover, he is the youngest cricketer to score 1,000 runs in the IPL and also holds the record for being the youngest to score a half-century in the Champion League Twenty20.

Sanju Samson is one of the regular performers for his team and has been consistent whether it is Kerala across all three formats or in the IPL. Despite making it to the Indian squad many times, he remained as a backup for MS Dhoni.

In 2015, he made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe. After the Zimbabwe series, he never got the long rope from the selectors and has since seen several other keepers overtake him and take the backup keeper spot in the squad and play a few matches as the primary keeper as well, in Dhoni's absence.
