#2 Stephen Fleming
The legendary Kiwi skipper was arguably the greatest captain to ever play for New Zealand. His ability to extract the best from his troops was indeed a quality to be praised. But this was put to a check when the Kiwis toured India for a three-match Test series in the year 1999. The hosts drew the first and the third match whilst they were able to clinch a victory in the second match. The series ended with the result of 1 - 0 in favor of India.
Fleming - led - New Zealand again toured India in 2003 but they had to again return with disappointment as both the Test matches ended in draws. This series meant that Fleming's record in India extended to five matches without a win as captain.
His Test match record as a captain in India read - Played: 5; Drawn: 4; Lost: 1
