#1 Ricky Ponting
Ricky Ponting is considered one of the best captains to have played the game. So it might come as a surprise to note that the man who lifted the World Cup twice as a captain; the man who won the most number of matches as a captain was not able to win a single Test match in India.
Ponting led his team in two full series on Indian soil. He toured India as a full-time captain for the first time in 2008. The first and the third test match ended in draws while India won the second and fourth test by a margin of 320 and 172 runs respectively.
He again toured India for a 2 match Test series but had to face a clean sweep as India, again, won both the matches by 1 and 7 wickets respectively. The Aussie also led his team in a Test match back in 2004 but had to face a 13 run defeat in that match as well.
This is probably one of the rare lows in Ponting's captaincy career as his records in India - Played: 7; Lost: 5; Drawn: 2 - don’t really define his legacy as captain
