The name in the squad that has sparked a debate in the cricketing fraternity is the ever so flamboyant Hardik Pandya. While there is not much of a doubt regarding his abilities, many have questioned his selection in a Test squad, that too in challenging conditions. In the Test series against South Africa, Pandya amassed 119 runs at an average of less than 20. His bowling figures were not impressive either, with just 3 wickets in as many matches.

He had a decent T20I series against England, but his form took a U-turn again in the ODI series, in which he picked up just a solitary wicket in 3 games and scored only 42 runs at an average of 21. Many are saying that this might be Pandya's last chance to prove himself in Tests, and given his lukewarm form, it will be interesting to see how he handles the challenge.
