Gautam Gambhir is one of the best openers that India has ever had in all formats of the game. He was the hero of the team on both the occasions when India won a World Cup in 2007 as well as in 2011.

Gambhir was the highest scorer in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup and he also scored 97 runs in the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka. He was dropped from the Indian team in 2012 and he has been unable to make it to the Indian ODI side since then.

Gambhir had a poor IPL this year as he was unable to score runs at a decent rate. He even stepped down from captaincy and was not even a part of the Delhi playing XI in the second half of the tournament.

With Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Prithvi Shaw performing pretty well in this year's IPL and making a case for their selection in the Indian team, we might have already seen the last of Gambhir in the blue jersey.
