#1 Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders and has always been among the runs in IPL. He even won the orange cap in the 2014 edition. Having scored 350+ runs in 8 out of the 11 editions, he averages a respectable 28.57 and is the 5th highest run-getter in the tournament's history so far. In the 2014 edition, Uthappa put scores of 40+ in 10 successive innings.
But, his international career never really took off. Probably, the only highlight of his international career came before IPL, as he was part of the Indian Team which won the first ever T20 World Cup in 2007. In 2 consecutive domestic seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15), Uthappa helped Karnataka win all 3 major titles (Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and Vijay Hazare Trophy). These performances helped him get a call up for the ODI team but he couldn't seize the opportunity.
Being over 33 years of age, he has so far made only 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is appearances for India in which he has managed to score 934 and 249 runs respectively. For a player of Uthappa's caliber, these numbers don't stack up. It only tells how difficult, competitive, and at times unfair, the sport is, and you have to have some luck on your side to make it big in International cricket.
