A gifted stroke-maker, Robin Uthappa made his international debut at the age of 20. However, he has played only 42 ODIs and 12 T20Is for India so far. He struggled with his consistency early on in his career and was unlucky to be ignored later. However, he is an IPL veteran and is the fifth highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Uthappa's career with India never really took off and barring a few match-winning knocks, he never really made it count. He was often ignored but did manage to win the CB series and World T20 in 2007.

Since then, he has made sporadic comebacks into the team on a couple of occasions, thanks to his IPL performances, but couldn't make the most of those opportunities.
